and in the end, in wonderland, we both went mad.
The topic of what one wants to be when they grow up has always been a tough one to answer. Not everyone wants to think about what they want to become when they reach a certain age and sometimes it could be due to the fact that no one wants to disappoint themselves by not being able to become what they wanted or simply because, well, what was the realism in it? When Poppy Wyldes was three years old, she'd told her mother that she wanted to become a ballerina one day, so her mother had enrolled her into dance classes. She had the proper motivation, but a three year old didn't know what they wanted to be. It changed when she was six years old, she wanted to become a doctor. At seven, a teacher. At eight years old, she wanted to become a writer. All was good and well, and of course, she was growing up and didn't fully know what she wanted to be or what she wanted to do, but she had all her life to figure it out.

It was when she was ten that Poppy had decided what she wanted to be when she was older. It wasn't a doctor, it wasn't a writer, it wasn't a marine biologist, either. What she'd wanted to become was a musician. It didn't seem plausible to many that she would be able to reach her lifelong goal, though they didn't tell her that. She had her heart set on it, and that was what she wanted to be. She'd begun writing songs the moment that she'd decided that she wanted to be just that. All she needed to do was learn how to play the guitar. And so, she did. For her eleventh birthday, Poppy had gotten a guitar from her grandpa, which had actually been the guitar that he'd learned to play when he was younger. It had been the most amazing gift that he could have given her and she loved him for it. Although he couldn't teach her how to play it because of arthritis, that was still okay. She was in love with the guitar. It took her three months to learn how to play, but it was well worth it.

By the time she was thirteen years old, she'd mastered the guitar, banjo and the mandolin. There really wasn't any instrument that she didn't dream to one day play. Okay, well, maybe there were a few that she didn't really have any intention on learning to play, but that was mostly brass instruments. She knew she'd forever stick with string instruments! To an extent, anyway. Her philosophy was, even at a young age, what was the point in learning to play anything else unless you were going to run off to college or play professionally. It just wasn't in her "game plan," so to speak. All she had on her mind was to learn to play that guitar and to do it perfectly so that she could be able to convince her parents that, well, she would be able to keep up with this hobby, that wasn't even really a hobby any more than eating could be a hobby. It was a way of life to her. She needed to play her instrument and she needed to write her thoughts and feelings down and convert them to song.

When she was fourteen years old, she'd been able to seek out a record company in Nashville, but they'd declined her. There was something that made them slightly uncomfortable about signing a fourteen year old to their record label. The next year, she had been told the same thing by another record company. However, when she was sixteen years old, she had finally found someone that was willing to take a chance on her. She had worked for so long on trying to get somewhere with her career. She'd been writing songs for such a long time, and they weren't always the best of songs, but they were what she really wanted them to be like, the feelings that she felt or saw from her friends and their eyes. It was a soulful process to get there, but it was something that she truly loved to do. Maybe that's where the writing want went to after she decided she wanted to be a musician.

To this day, the one thing that she is overly grateful for is the fact that someone took a chance on a sixteen year old girl to test her dreams and see if she had what it would take. Not even a year after she was signed to the record label, Poppy released her first single, Tim McGraw. The song was not only written by Poppy, but also composed by her as well. It isn't the song that she's been known for throughout the years, but it was one of her favorites to write and perform, always had been. It had taken her four months to record her debut album, but those months were well worth the strain, tears, sweat and metaphorical blood that went into recording it. There was nothing that she regretted about it and it was released less than two months before her seventeenth birthday. The album was released and did well, it had even topped the US Country Album charts and made it up to number five on the Billboard Top 200 in the United States at one point. Needless to say, the record company, Big Machine Records, knew that it was well worth the stress it had been when they'd signed a sixteen year old girl from Gainesboro to their record label.

Poppy had always been really rather grateful for the chance she'd received from them. It was a chance for her to share her music with everyone throughout the world. It was her big dream and the fact that she had a such a growing fan base from the start really helped. She loved it, and every chance that she was getting to prove herself worthy. There was nothing she wouldn't do to prove that about herself. She could do it and she knew it, despite how young she was. It was a good thing that she and her family had faith in her that she would succeed in doing what she was going to be doing for what she hoped would be the rest of her life. Even if it didn't, then it would have been well worth the ride. But, hey! It would be a ride worth going on even if she had just had the success from her debut album, Poppy Wyldes.

It took her four months to compose and write her sophomore album that she was positive that she was going to be able to record. Hopefully she wouldn't fall under the curse of the sophomore album like some people would end up doing. Crash and burn, they would. But she had the faith of a thousand people that she wouldn't fall under that curse. Poppy knew she was good, though not overly prideful. In November 2008, her second album, Fearless topped not only the US Country Album list, but also reached number one on the Billboard list for eleven non-consecutive weeks. It was brilliant! She was so happy and ecstatic that she had such a loyal fan base. They were what made it perfect for her and well worth everything she went through. Again, she'd written and composed all of the songs on her album, and it was something she was happy with. There was no way she'd release something that she wasn't 100% happy with how it turned out, at all.

That following year, she not only began writing her third album that she wasn't even sure she had a name for at the time, but she also headlined her debut world tour. The Fearless Tour that lasted from 2009 to 2010. It was such a wonderful experience. Sure, she'd toured when she had her debut album out, but this was different. She was the headliner. It was all about her. She wasn't, for the first time, opening for someone else. Those were fun times and she loved them to pieces, but now it was all about her. Poppy Wyldes, country artist! She travelled all over, going from city to city, from one sold out show to the next. It was so amazing and wonderful to know that she was loved and had so many fans out there that they'd buy her albums and go to her concerts just to see her. Wonderful! The tour ended in June, but it was one of the most exciting years of her life, at least to that point in her young life. But, hey, she was only twenty years old by the end of that tour. She had plenty of years left to improve!

Not only was she growing more and more successful with her music, but she also debuted into the acting realm. She'd had time off during her tour to have time to have not only a holiday, but also so that she could do that. She performed on Saturday Night Live, but she also did cameos in the Hannah Montana Movie and as well as part of the Jonas Brothers 3D Concert Experience. But the acting came to play when she did a guest appearance (as well as a special remixed song) for the show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation for a single episode. It was so much fun that she'd auditioned the following months for a film called Valentine's Day. It wasn't the first she'd done but it was the first she was going to be a part of where she wasn't playing herself. Poppy also wrote a song for the film, Today Was A Fairytale. It was a great time, and she couldn't believe how much fun and how easy it was for her to be a part of the film, though to this day, she wouldn't fully consider herself to be an actress. She'd forever choose music over acting, when it came down to it.

Her third album, Speak Now, was released later that year once her Fearless Tour was over and done with. It did just as well as her sophomore album, if not better than it had done. Her fans were growing and loving her music, not leaving her behind for one moment to go to the "next big thing." That was something that mattered. It showed that no matter what, she was going to have fans that loved and supported her, even if her music was "overly romantic," said one critic. She'd even had one that had said that her music was far too much like a stalker, when Poppy knew that wasn't even remotely the case. It was just their way to perceive her music and trying to make it something that it wasn't. People had their perceptions on everything, and Poppy didn't believe that they should, but she couldn't stop them. It hurt, but what could she really do about it? Nothing, not really. But it wasn't something she could prevent. It came with the territory and she would have to accept that.

Her very first full live album, Speak Now: World Tour Live, was released in late 2011. It was a little off for her since she was use to releasing something every two years, but it was amazing to share it with people. She had fans who wouldn't be able to or weren't fully album to attend her concerts, and that was something that made her want to release it. She also had become a full-on entrepreneur. She became a spokesmodel for CoverGirl cosmetics, and created her first fragrance: Wonderstruck. She also had become, at one point, the spokesmodel for Sony Cyber-shot cameras. Poppy teamed up with Target, Walgreens and Papa Johns with her fourth studio album, Red, as well. In late 2012, Poppy became an official spokesmodel for Keds sneakers and Diet Coke. She also released her sophomore fragrance with Elizabeth Arden and continued on with her alliance with Covergirl, Sony and various others due to her ability to reach teenaged and young females.

Red, her latest album, had been released in late 2012, and had topped the Billboards and sold over a million copies during its first week of release. Her album was the second highest album debut just after Britney Spears' Oops, I Did It Again. It was one of her biggest accomplishments, also leading her toward acting again with a role in "The Giver", something that she was in love with. After Red's release, Poppy had also gone on another tour to promote the album, putting all of her time into her work. She'd been through so much over the years that she was happy to move on and keep going with things. All-in-all, it was getting to be more and more, and the more she did and the more she worked, the more that she was madly in love with the things that she was putting out.

With ups and downs, Poppy had pushed more and more toward a better career. She had followers and haters, but there were always going to be people that hated everything that you did, and that wasn't something that Poppy was so concerned about anymore. Yes, it used to hurt her feelings, but after a while, it didn't hurt all that much anymore. Over time, Poppy had become used to growing up and maturing, even though her target audience tended to always be the younger crowd, but that was okay with her. If she were more concerned with it, she would try to aim for older. In mid-2014, Poppy had announced that she would be releasing her fifth studio album, 1989, which was, for the first time in her career, a full pop album instead of there being some vague hints of country. She'd grown over the years to become a pop artist and more mainstream and that worked perfectly for her. And truth be told? She loved the change and the transition to something completely and utterly new.
